The Rev. Deacon Kevin P. Stewart
kevin@trinitywauwatosa.org Deacon Kevin was ordained to the diaconate in June 2007 and began service at Trinity Church in September 2007.
Kevin and his wife, Melanie, have lived in Wauwatosa since 1999 when they relocated here from Akron Ohio. Kevin's "day job" (since deacons exercise their ministry of service without stipend from a congregation) is ministry director for Hope Street Ministries in Milwaukee. Hope Street Ministries provides transitional housing and ministry to residents moving out of a life of alcohol and drug dependency and into a life of renewed hope and transformation.
Melanie is director of assessment and student learning at the Elmbrook School District. Together, Kevin and Melanie are proud parents of two adult children and have two grandsons. Their home in Wauwatosa is alive with the sounds of their three dogs and the occasional rumble of their "his and hers" Harley-Davidsons.
Before his ordination to the diaconate, Kevin and Melanie were members of St. James' Church in Milwaukee where they were both active in that parish's vibrant urban ministry. Kevin's ministry as a deacon at Trinity Church will be to remind the congregation, through his presence, his preaching/teaching and his actions that all Christians are called serve (individually and as a community) all God's children - including and especially those who are "the least among us."
